Overview:
The Accounting Officer is responsible for directing and coordinating operational accounting and finance functions at the US National Whitewater Center. The Accounting Manager is a full-time employee benefit eligible position and reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain the general ledger system
• Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements
• Coordinate the activities of the external auditors
• Provide management with vital information for the decision-making process
• Help with the budget process
• Assessment of accounting processes and internal control systems
• Evaluate the effectiveness of various software applications and supporting databases, as required
• Provide financial support to the various operating teams, as needed
• Monitoring of commercial performance indicators
• Help with regulatory reporting and compliance
• Hiring, training and retention of qualified accounting staff
Conditions:
• Strong communication, technology, analysis and management skills
• Knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Three or more years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• CPA, MBA or professional certification an asset
• Previous experience in public accounting, a plus
• Comfortable with the physical tasks associated with the position
