Government to establish identification portal and national eID


Earlier this month, the government posted a request for proposals (the “RFP”) on the Cayman bonfire website (, inviting interested parties to submit proposals for the development. a national eID (National eID) and online service customer portal (Portal).

The purpose of the national eID is to enable Caymanians and others legally resident in the Cayman Islands to facilitate electronic transactions, including digital identity verification and the use of digital signatures. It is also a convenient way for people to prove their Caymanian immigrant status.

As for the portal, it is expected that it will be in the form of a mobile application and a web portal. The goal of the portal is to provide residents of the Cayman Islands with easier access to government-provided services. It will also facilitate a more interconnected government.

According to the RFP, the successful bidder will be expected to be proficient in business analysis, systems design, UI / UX design, mobile application development and web development.

Regarding the selection of the successful bidder, each applicant will be ranked and the highest ranked bidder will receive a written invitation to enter into direct contract negotiations to finalize the agreement with the government.
