Alba: a wildlife adventure, a game about exploring an island and saving its wildlife, puts its money where its mouth is. Its developers, ustwo games, have partnered with Ecologi, an organization dedicated to positive environmental impact.

Similar to the case of developers iam8bit with Ori and the will of the wisps, ustwo is committed to making a difference with its game. While iam8bit has partnered with Rainforest Trust to maintain the rainforest, ustwo partner Ecologi is helping to plant a tree for every download of Alba: a wildlife adventure.

At the time of writing, ustwo reported that the total number of trees planted through this partnership has reached over 450,000. Ustwo’s ultimate goal, however, is to plant one million trees in total. That goal is almost halfway through and with the game’s launch on consoles in the spring, that should fuel even more downloads, which of course will lead to even more trees being planted in honor of the game’s message.

Alba is described by its developers as a “chillectathon” because it has a relaxed approach similar to Animal crossing and lets its players take the time to discover its universe. Playing as Alba, players will explore the Mediterranean island where her grandparents live. There she will encounter various wild animals which can be documented or photographed.

Alba will also work to help save the island from various environmental problems. One of its goals is to help form an organization that can help take care of the island, but in doing so, she will also give a helping hand personally.

For example, she can help rescue a dolphin that has been stranded because it has been caught in a net. In another example, a squirrel must be treated after ingesting a poisonous substance.

Alba: a wildlife adventure is currently available for Apple Arcade and PC. It will be released on PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X / S in the spring.
